Affordable Thrifted Cards

June 27, 2018

Thrifted Cards from the Salvation Army Thrift StoreHave you ever thought to purchase thrifted cards?  It’s a budget friendly way to be able to send a handwritten note. I moved out a LONG time ago, in the beginning I would have phone check ins with people back home which eventually moved to email notes and now I send a short text. Sometimes I forget how wonderful it is to receive a handwritten letter.  I’ve been wanting to send letters and cards for a while and was very lucky to find thrifted cards for all occasions at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store.

Affordable Cards from the Thrift StoreOne of my colleagues at work recently told me he purchased a big stack of cards for all occasions to cover the entire year.  Genius!  How many times have you had a baby shower or a wedding or a birthday and have to run out last minute to purchase a card?!  It happens to me all the time.  I really liked the idea of having a stash of cards so I will always be prepared. I couldn’t imagine buying all of these cards new!  Cards range anywhere from $4.99 to $9.99, if you start buying cards for the entire year 10 birthdays would almost be a $100!

Flowers candle handwritten notesI was at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store and in the home section were large  bins of cards and envelopes.  I couldn’t believe my luck!  Most of the thrifted cards were vintage, but there were some great options. I found probably 30 cards to cover the entire year.  Guess what?  The cards were only 25 cents each.  Compared to the price of a regular card, this was a steal.  I have a huge stack now for the year and cannot wait to send them out!

Vintage thrifted cards from the Salvation Army Thrift StoreIf you are looking for your own thrifted cards from the Salvation Army Thrift Store make sure to find cards that are blank inside. Blank cards make it easier to use a card for any occasion.  Now I need to make sure I am scheduling all of my important dates into the calendar.  Anyone have any tips on the best way to keep track of when and who to send a card to?  Would love your advise.  Comment below if you can help!
