This fall seems to be a huge refresh for me! A few weeks ago I purged a lot of items and even did a small entryway makeover on a budget. I also went through my closet and took out pieces that no longer worked or I was not wearing. In the end I had 50 items for Hey Archive, and two bags for donation at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Putting away clothes seasonally really helps me to know what no longer fits in my wardrobe. This fall I wanted to find some new accessories, like this gorgeous red leather purse and new yellow wool jacket. Purging my wardrobe really allowed me to look for new pieces that would work better with my style now.
You can check out my previous blog on how to thrift high quality items. If you are looking to refresh your wardrobe on a budget the thrift store or consignment store or clothing swap are all wonderful options. I don’t know about you but sometimes I hate my wardrobe. A wardrobe overhaul is not always in the cards, but picking out key items like high quality accessories or new jackets or a handful of new sweaters is.
Tips on how to refresh your fall wardrobe
- BUY A COUPLE NEW PIECES: If you are looking at your wardrobe and trying to fill the holes with pieces you don’t have, that is one way to start. For example maybe a jean shirt would fit with the sweaters you have as a great piece for layering.
- REPLACE OLD OR WORN OUT ITEMS: Giving your wardrobe new life can be as simple as replacing your favorite pieces. Perhaps you have a sweater that is great for layering but it is pilling or is no longer a nice shape. Look at replacing that single piece of clothing.
- PURGE ITEMS THAT NO LONGER FIT: When you have a wardrobe you are not excited about, that can be difficult. Sometimes we keep items that no longer fit or are misshapen from washing, these are not pieces we don’t want to wear and they probably don’t you make you feel good.
I used my own tip from my blog about high quality items on a budget, I checked the tag. I saw this yellow jacket, tried it on and fell in love! It didn’t have a regular tag, but a name. In the store I got out my phone, searched Tabitha Wool Jacket. The jacket was the first photo that came up in my search. Turns out this yellow wool jacket is and Anthropologie piece. The retail price was around $150! I was able to find this at the thrift store for $9.99.
