Summer Fashion on a Budget

Summer fashion on a budget. Normally Friday’s are reserved for thrift store finds, but this week I am featuring a brand new outfit! Gasp. I was having trouble thrifting summer tops that fit nicely. Finding a top that is both feminine and flattering proved to be harder than expected. Every summer I am frustrated. Most tops are lose or flowy, if you have my shape this is not complementary. I always look bigger than I am and never have a defined waist. This yellow floral top from H&M was a lucky find and will be my new go to summer style. The wrap shirt!

This outfit is perfect for an afternoon date or running errands on the weekend. I don’t know about you but I am a HUGE fan of shirts I don’t have to adjust. There is nothing worse than being out all day and constantly pulling up your straps. These white Levi’s jeans are going strong after three summers. They are still available through Levi’s. I found these white Levi’s at the outlet store here in Vancouver for only $20. If you live in the lower mainland, the Levi’s Outlet is worth a trip. Mark scored a great jean jacket for only $20.

Let’s focus on the real star here, the Market Basket. I bought this a few years ago but have only started using it consistently this year. The price has definitely gone up, I think I only paid $25. The Market Basket is SO GOOD. I don’t know about you but I always forget my reusable bags. With the basket I leave it by the front door and grab it on my way out. Plus it eliminates my purse as I can easily toss it in the bottom of the basket while I shop. If you need further convincing…the basket is less awkward because you don’t have your purse, the reusable bags AND the store basket. You can use your market basket for everything! It is a little bit of an investment, but trust me, it’s worth it.

If you are an hourglass figure like me, look for shirts or dresses that tie at the waste. If you can find a wrap shirt or dress that is even better. I find it more enjoyable to shop online first and then go into a store to try on items. If I am simply out searching for a certain style I can be exhausted before I have even found one item to try on. Searching online first allows me to find a few options and head to those stores.
