I love spring it’s such a wonderful energy, and it always makes me want to purge and clean!
Craigslist the online vortex where I could lose hours looking for nothing in particular, but when you have a clear vision in mind Craigslist always comes through.
Here are some of my Craigslist tips!
* When looking for a specific item use many different key words. For the wonderful industrial metal cart I scored I believe I used, side table, cart, industrial, filing, in the end “cart” was the winning word! Try to think of other words to describe the item you are looking for because all minds think differently.
* Be specific. Yes we can all spend hours perusing Craigslist but if you have an item you are looking for that’ll make it easier. The key here is patience. Visualize the item you want and maybe once a day do a quick search. I wanted a leather chair for an Xmas gift and searched for over a couple weeks before I found the perfect fit and price!
* Negotiate before you go to view the item. If you want to offer a lower price, that’s resonable, make sure you put the offer in an email prior to pick up, there’s nothing worse than selling an item for $80 and the person shows up saying they only have $60 (yes this happened to me).
* I think it’s a great idea to look at Craigslist as a trading site, you sell an item to purchase an item. I’ve always done this. If I want something new I have to get rid of an item first. This keeps it frugal!
Here’s my new office cart! The top slides open to hold folders. It fits perfectly and by selling some items this item technically didn’t cost anything!
