DIY Floral Table Garland

May 6, 2015

DIY Floral Garland

I have been wanting to try a floral garland for a while, and was so excited I finally had the chance!  For my Next Home Stylist video entry I created a simple spring tablescape, one that could be created in less than 15 minutes and still wow your guests! I featured the floral garland as a beautiful table runner.

A friend introduced me to a wonderful organization Flowers For Food here in Vancouver.  They set up outside the West End Community Centre from approx 11am to 4pm during the week.  All of their flowers are by donation and the money goes back to the community to support The Living Room Shelter, The Dugout, Oakridge Senior Centre, Haro Park Senior Centre and MPA.

I was able to get all the flowers for my DIY Floral Garland for $15!!

I didn’t want to make this complicated!  The whole idea is I could rush home after work and set everything up in a short amount of time.

STEP ONE: I created mini bouquets which I tied with twine.

STEP TWO: After I had used all the flowers to create mini bouquets I connected them together by laying the mini bouquets on top of each other, then using the twine to keep everything in place. The key is to hide the twine and make it look as though the flowers are continuous.

STEP THREE: Fill in any gaps with leftover greenery or flowers. Then step back and enjoy a glass of wine!

Have fun!

This is really beautiful. It makes me want to throw a dinner party just so that I can try it out myself!
