When I was a kid we never went out and spent a lot of money on Mother’s Day gifts. It was a from the heart kind of day. My mom would always receive a homemade craft or card, and nothing has changed! I love being creative when it comes to Mother’s Day gifts, it makes it really fun and also gives my mom something that is one of a kind.
Here are 2 simple and affordable Mother’s Day gifts that you could easily make before Sunday.
1) Calligraphy Quote In A Frame
I have been trying my hand at calligraphy lately, it’s a lot of fun, but I have a long way to go to perfect my skills! I like this gift because it’s easy, has a personal touch and was handmade by me!
I used the quote “You two look like sisters” because it’s my moms absolutely favorite thing to hear.
I used paper I already had on hand, an old frame that was sitting in a drawer, and the calligraphy set I received from my workshop with Fox and Flourish.

2) Tea Cup Hen and Chick
I was recently at an earth day event where they were giving away free hen and chick succulents, score! When I got home I realized this beautiful little plant would be the perfect Mother’s Day gift. I decided to plant the hen and chick into a vintage teacup. My mom works in an office and doesn’t have a lot of space for plants so this is the perfect little addition to her work space.
Hen and Chick succulents are a great plant since they are very similar to an air plant, they don’t need a lot of watering and the lovely gentleman who was giving them away suggested simply using a spray bottle every once in a while.
TOTAL COST of Tea Cup Hen and Chick: $2 (cost of the vintage tea cup)
Both of these gifts are handmade and from the heart!
