Fall layers are my absolute favorite! I honestly challenge myself to see how many fall layers I can actually pull off, five is too many, you can’t move your arms! Fall is by far my most preferred season. The fashion, leaves and crisp air leave me feeling refreshed. These fall layers are perfect for running errands or Sunday brunch.
Right now is a time I feel I am really coming into my own style. Sometimes I question myself and wonder whether I should wear something or if I am dressing “too young”, even though I don’t know what that means. The other day I was out running errands and I saw this older woman, probably in her 70’s. She was healthy, fit and rocking some killer style. She turned around for a brief moment and I saw she was wearing floral pants, an oversized sweater, a fanny pack and red jacket. It made me smile. This woman looked stunning. She wasn’t conforming to what she thought she should wear, she was wearing what she wanted to. This made me so happy and inspired the fall layers today.
This small fanny pack was a vintage purse I found at the thrift store. The piece didn’t really work as a purse but as a fanny pack I love it! Fanny packs are great, especially on the weekends or when you are running errands. It keeps everything hands free and easy. Plus adds another fall layer, which I can’t get enough of!

Let’s breakdown the cost of this fall outfit.
Black Jeans: $19.99 (Joe Fresh), Leather Slides: $70 (Winners), Zara Jean Shirt: $6.99 (thrifted), Oak + Fort Sweater: $6.99 (thrifted), Goodnight Macaroon Jacket: $14.99 (thrifted)
TOTAL COST: $118.96
An outfit with three fall layers for under $120 is pretty great. I know you might look at the cost breakdown and think why do you thrift shop and then spend $70 on shoes? In my opinion shoes are important. If you buy cheap shoes, you will need to replace them every season. If you invest in a shoe that I more expensive it will last longer. These slides are three years old now and they are perfectly worn in. The sole is in good condition, the leather is worn in but looks great and none of the studs have fallen off. I am not sure this would happen if I bought a similar pair that were a third of the price. Something to think about. There are pieces like shoes and leather jackets that are worth investing in.
Here’s a shot of the outfit without the fanny pack. The outfits both work. I actually don’t know which one I like better! Are you TEAM FANNY PACK or TEAM NO FANNY PACK? I would be curious to see what everyone likes better.
