Linen | My new favorite wardrobe material

LINEN! Yes I am yelling. Last year I thrifted these amazing yellow linen pants and they were a summer favorite. Previous to last summer I think I was always afraid of linen. Purchasing new linen can be expensive, there are stains and wrinkles to consider and how to make it look stylish. After purchasing the vintage yellow pants, I realized by having a fitted look made it great for everyday wear.

When I was in Mexico City earlier this year, I ended up in the mall of all places. I wanted to find an affordable piece of clothing to purchase and I found these overalls on sale for $10! They are a size too big, but I went for it. Since it had the tie I was able to create a waist and it didn’t look too baggy. I have a rule for clothes shopping whether new or thrifted, always buy your size! If you end up purchasing affordable clothing in the wrong size, it’s not flattering and I probably won’t wear it as much.

I’ve gotten over my fear of wrinkles, it’s linen, the material has a natural look and the wrinkles are part of wearing this type of fabric. Again I think the key is to find linen pieces with structure of some kind, so you still have a shape. The brand is Bershka, they don’t sell it in Canada but those in the US can find a similar Linen Jumpsuit. Linen is perfect for spring and summer, lightweight and easy to style.
