Did you like the post for the Bright and Airy Bedroom Makeover on a Budget a couple weeks ago? A lot of people were surprised we were able to completely transform this space for only $1300! It’s possible if you use a few items you have and make smart purchases when it comes to furniture and decor. In case you missed the Pinterest Board we used for the makeover, be sure to check it out. The board was a great tool to keep our ideas on track and to also link items we wanted to purchase, for easy reference. I would highly recommend starting a board for any project you are working on. Not only does it help for inspiration but it also keeps you on track and on budget. Plus when shopping it’s easy to reference the items you want to purchase and where to find them in store.
Sometimes budget decor can be frustrating! It definitely takes a lot more effort and research. You might fall in love with an item, like a floor lamp, but when you search online all you find are lamps WAY out of your budget. I get it, I’ve been there, a few times. The key for me has been finding stores that cater to tight budgets but still have items that don’t look cheap. A few I would suggest are OVERSTOCK, WAYFAIR, and ETSY. All of these sites make searching online simple by letting you set filters, for example the max amount for your search, which is helpful when on a budget! You won’t be tempted by the more expensive items. (I’ve definitely been tempted before and learned my lesson!) They also allow you to favorite items so you don’t have to make a decision right away or lose all your favorites.
Of course there is always the option to thrift items. Although this can be fun, it can also be frustrating as you might not find what you are looking for right away. For this Budget Bedroom Makeover, I went in looking for small white decor, which is vague but helped me find this wonderful little vase. If I went in looking for a specific piece of decor I might not have found this lovely vase. If you are thinking about making over a room, but have a very small budget, the thrift store is a nice alternative. The key here is patience. You might not find everything you are looking for on the first visit, but when we are on a budget we sometimes have to look a little harder to find the perfect item, but trust me it is always worth it in the end.
Do you have a favorite budget decor go to store or online shop? If so please share with me in the comments below! I always like finding new places for budget decor, because you know I am ALWAYS making over our rooms and helping friends do the same.
