To find what I needed, I headed to the kitchen section of my local Salvation Army thrift store. You might not think the kitchen area is where you'd find bath supplies, but I was looking for something different.

I was so happy to find this heavy cheese plate with dome. It would keep all my bath supplies safe from small children. Then I fell in love with this terracotta pot for my Epsom salts, along with a porcelain spoon, simple candle, and small glass vessel for the matches.

The matches I found at the dollar store, they were long bbq matches, so I cut them to size and taped the striker onto the bottom. I love how it turned out, and I was able to use this secondhand glass jar in a new way!

Don't worry, the kids' toys are still there, I thrifted a small little basket to keep everything contained and in ONE corner.

9 years ago, I went on a "coffee date" at 7 o'clock in the evening. He drank a coffee while I sipped tea, and we talked. He was funny, full of stories, and had a lovely energy about him plus a laugh to fill a room. Our coffee date moved up the street as we discussed our mutual love for nachos, so we went and found some. (Rip Foundation 😢)

We still love nachos, evening coffee dates (more like tea or sparkling water now), and our life has grown so much.

I used to make jokes about our age difference, and Mark would always say, "I'm an old fart and you're young at heart." Which basically means we're the same age, or maybe Mark's actually older than me. 🤔

Do you think I can make a self care station for our bathroom with items from the kitchen area of @sathriftstore?

Stay tuned a little later to find out. *hint* This little vase is thrifted.
SPARKLE When I was thinking of my word for 2023, SPARKLE

When I was thinking of my word for 2023, I thought of everything I was trying to create in my life, abundance, balance, a happy home, time for self care, etc. I was doing these but wanted to go deeper so I thought that needed to be my focus.

If I took away the doing, what was the energy I wanted to embody? The word that came up and instantly made me smile was SPARKLE.

spar·kle

/ˈspärk(ə)l/

verb

* shine brightly with flashes of light.

* be vivacious and witty.

This is the energy I want to bring to my life. I would like to add more SPARKLE to our home, my play with the girls, my creative projects, the gatherings I host, my friendships, and relationship.

2023 is the year I SPARKLE. It's not about big accomplishments but how I move through everyday life. Although, who knows, maybe the sparkle will lead me to something great. ✨️
I almost didn't use this tablecloth, my Baba handm I almost didn't use this tablecloth, my Baba handmade. When laying it out, I thought this wasn't a current style, and no one's table setting would use something like this. Then I had another thought, the only reason I think/believe this is because holiday decor and table settings are changing every year. Why? Everyone online wants to sell me something new.

You know what they can't sell me? The hours my Baba spent handmaking this for me with dreams of a future family and home for myself. I've carried this tablecloth with me for over twenty years. This holiday season, it looked stunning on our table. It reminded me of all the holidays around my Baba's table, around my parents' table, and now around my own table, creating new traditions with pieces from the past.

Some thoughts as I clean up from a busy weekend full of love.

The only problem was that the off-white lantern in our old white kitchen didn't work. Thanks to a little @rustoleumca black spray paint, I solved the problem in a few minutes. Added a little mini wreath, and here we are, modern lantern vibes with a smokey chimney.
