I have been wearing all the layers this fall as the weather turns chilly. Although Vancouver doesn’t normally get snow, or if we do, it doesn’t stick, but it is still pretty chilly here. Before bringing out my larger winter jackets I wanted to stretch my fall wardrobe a little further, so I started layering jackets! This creates a nice texture and keeps me warm.
I had seen this velvet jacket at Joe Fresh last year but never bought it. When I was looking for a few gifts this year and ended up in the Joe Fresh sale section. Can you believe this velvet jacket was only $5.99! It’s great for the office and works perfectly under my leather jacket for fall. Adding a rich colour and a bit of warmth.
I really like light layers when out shopping for the holidays. I never have to worry about taking off my scarf or sweater, I can easily pop in and out while staying warm, but never overheating. This casual weekend look is completed with a the perfect grey t-shirt. Everyone’s wardrobe needs a good grey t-shirt, it is really easy to dress up or down. I can wear it on the weekend while running errands or dress it up for work.

This is my most expensive outfit to date! It is because I am wearing two of my investment pieces. The leather jacket and the leather shoes. I have had the leather jacket for probably five years now and bought the leather shoes about three years ago. Both are staples in my wardrobe and are worn often. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, investment pieces are a smart investment. If you don’t look at the total cost, but at the cost per year of owning an item, it really changes your perspective. Take the leather jacket I bought for $125, over five years that works out to $25 per year. I could have bought an inexpensive jacket instead but it might not have lasted as long, and actually ended up costing more money since I would’ve had to invest in a new jacket.
Do you have any investment pieces in your wardrobe? I questioned the leather jacket purchase when I made it but five years later, I am glad I did! Also the Kenneth Cole jacket new would sell for around $500, so I still got a great deal! As for shoes, I always invest in those. I only own a few pairs and they are all high quality products. I wear my shoes until they are worn out.
