I had a long plaid skirt at the top of my fall wish list for a while now. A few weeks ago I found the perfect plaid skirt at my local Salvation Army Thrift Store and it fit! This vintage beauty is in great condition, made in Canada and from 1976. How do I figure out my wish list? Based on images I see, I save them to a Pinterest board entitled Pieces I Want to Thrift. Follow along on my board to see if I am able to thrift my dream items.
With the Pinterest board I’m really clear about what I want to add to my wardrobe each season. Now I don’t have an overflowing closet, I always donate items that no longer work or I never wear. Then I can make space for new items to come in. Thrifting allows me to refresh my wardrobe more often than if I were buying new clothing. It’s not only a budget friendly option but let’s your wardrobe feel new with each season.
I’ve been seeing long skirts everywhere this season, here is one of my inspiration photos. I knew I wanted a statement skirt with colour and texture. This Canadian made 1976 skirt was absolutely perfect. It pairs wonderfully with the black tights and sweater. I wanted a shorter sweater I could have under the skirt to create a nice line. I am still searching for the rightoversized sweater to wear with this skirt, but that might be a winter wardrobe purchase.
The emerald green purse is another Salvation Army Thrift Store find. If you want to find your own purse check out my blog on how to thrift purses at the thrift store. I share tips on what to look for and how to find a quality item. I like how this emerald green purse pulls the green from the skirt and compliments it nicely. It’s a great accessory for this skirt. Simple but still makes a statement.

This skirt works for fall but with a leather jacket and oversized scarf it will also be great for winter. When buying new clothes I’m not thinking about wearing them once or only for one season I’m trying to figure out how to restyle them for multiple seasons. Again thrifting is a great way to find new items to pair with a piece of clothing you already own, on a budget!
